KR Jail Door - Configuration and Setup

Configuring and Using the KR Cell Name Plate

The KR Cell Name Plate allows you to "name" each cell in your jail.

Configuration is contained in two places: the Description of the Name Plate object and in the name of the CONFIG Notecard in the name plate's Contents.

  1. Put the "cell name" you want to appear over the name plate in the Description of the Name Plate object and then touch the name plate.
  2. The name of the configuration notecard starts with "CONFIG" (in uppercase) and may be followed by several keywords:
    • Add the word GROUP to allow anyone in the same group as the name plate to access the menus. For example: CONFIG group
    • Add the word DISPLAY to use the prisoner's display name instead of their login name.
    • Add the word FIRST to use only the prisoner's first name.

These last two keywords will allow you to assign more prisoners to a given cell and may be necessary because there is a limit to the amount of "floating text" that can be displayed above an object.

You can easily display names for 4 prisoners, but with the above options you may be able to squeeze up to 8 in a cell.

  3. Examples: CONFIG First     CONFIG DISPLAY group     CONFIG Display GROUP first

Why use the object description for the cell name and not add it to the CONFIG notecard? You will probably set up a single name plate with the access and prisoner name configuration, than then copy that name plate and distribute it throughout your jail. It is must faster to then change the cell's name by just editing the object description.

Using the KR Access Server with the Name Plate

If you have the KR Access Server installed, you can use it for staff authentication for access to the Name Plate controls.

The KR Access Server Cell Plugin script is included in the package delivered with the name plate, but it is not installed in the contents of the name plate in order to reduce script memory usage if it is not to be used.

You must synchronize the KR Access Server Cell Plugin script with the KR Access Server by one of two methods.

  1. You are about to start the installation of name plates
    • Rez a name plate next to your KR Access Server
    • Drag the KR Access Server Cell Plugin script into the contents of the name plate Within 30 seconds the name plate will synchronize with the server.
    • Create a new folder in your inventory called Synchronized KR Jail Cell Name Plate
    • Take the synchronized name plate into your inventory and keep in that folder.
    • Populate your prison with copies of the synchronized name plate.
  2. You already have name plates installed and want to add use of the KR Access Server for authentication
    • Rez a name plate next to your KR Access Server
    • Drag the KR Access Server Cell Plugin script into the contents of the name plate Within 30 seconds the name plate will synchronize with the server.
    • Create a new folder in your inventory called Synchronized KR Access Server Cell Plugin
    • Copy the plugin script from the name plate into your inventory and keep in that folder.
    • Create a new folder in your inventory called Synchronized KR Jail Door Name Plate
    • Take the synchronized name plate into your inventory and keep in that folder.
    • Go to each name plate in your prison and drag the synchronized plugin script into the name plate

Using the Name Plate

When touched, you will have the option to assign a nearby avatar to the cell, or remove an avatar name.

The Name Plate will dislay the names of all prisoners assigned to the cell along with the number of days they have been absent (or did not touch the name plate). The name plate does not track their sentence, only when they were last present. For tracking of time served and/or remaining, please take a look at the KR Jail Keeper product.
